The Invisible Truth - The Disappeared Sarasvati

Sarasvati River flowing, Uttarakhand

Sarasvati river, a very controversial river of India. This river is the main component of the development of ancient Indian Vedic civilization even Vedas were written on the banks of this river. It is proved, when a complete hymn is found in the name of Saraswati in the Rigveda.

 Meaning:

O Saraswati, You are the purifier, and Your power grows within us with sacrificial offerings,
May Your presence within me make me rich in sagacity.

Who Inspires us towards Truth and awakens our Goodness,
That Saraswati has accepted my offerings.

Saraswati, that great wave (who has flowed as a River) and who is the awakener of our Intellect is glaring as the image of universal knowledge.

The most amazing thing is that the river has been disappear after some distance from its origin and then the river is not seen any more. There may be many scientific reasons behind it but the Indian myth say this is the place where Vyasdev wrote the Mahabharata. He was reciting to Ganesha, but Ganesha could not hear his recitation cause of the Sarasvati river's heavy roar. So Vyasdev cursed Sarasvati to flow under the ground.

But science says another science, after the river came over the Rajasthan, once the river was flooded by rain water because of that irregular flooding the river dried up and can not be seen again.

See how the Sarasvati river is disappearing here

There are so many opinions about the course of this river. But the opinion given by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is more scientific because the work on depiction of entire course of river ‘Saraswati’ in North West India was carried out using Indian Remote Sensing Satellite data along with digital elevation model. Satellite images are multi-spectral, multi-temporal and have advantages of synoptic view, which are useful to detect palaeochannels. The palaeochannels are validated using historical maps, archaeological sites, hydro-geological and drilling data.
It was observed that major Harappan sites of Kalibangan (Rajasthan), Banawali and Rakhigarhi (Haryana), Dholavira and Lothal (Gujarat) lie along the River Saraswati.

Now there are so many prove found near Rajasthan side. Under the supervision of the Archaeological Department, the excavation work is carried out in accordance with the map enclosed by the ISRO. Sometimes water is available from depths of 6 to 7 feet, or sometime it is 150 feet.

This is the real direction of the river, there are so many proofs are there behind it -

  • Its depth is not equal everywhere in the direction of a river.
  • After running the excavation, some of the pebbles have been found which have proven by scientific methods that they are not close to any mountain.
  • Water scars during excavation is one of the main evidence.

Sarasvati appears after excavation

Saraswati is not just a river, it is the only living witness of Indian ancient civilization. If it flow in its previous form, it will enrich the history of the entire Indian civilization.

The Incredible Tibet

A Buddhism Festival in Tibet
Tibet, a great dreamland for all of us. Their culture, their devotion is very noticeable very time. This is the land of Buddha where worshipping and chanting are the hallmark. Their mantra is part of their education. Their wealth is their religion.
This country has separated themselves from the world since its birth. This buddhaland is covered by the other side of the Himalayas.

You will shocked when you will hear that backpackers cannot enter Tibet, it is mandatory to visit Tibet with a travel agency of India, China or Nepal. Foreigners apart from the above mentioned three countries are not allowed to visit Tibet. There are three main passes to enter the Tibet from India are

The famous and popular way to go to Tibet was Kathmandu to Tibet highway and you must have passport to cross the border.

Mount Everest
It is basically a devout land, but they have also a economy based on subsistence agriculture. Due to limited arable land, the primary occupation of the Tibetan Plateau is raising livestock, such as sheep, cattle, goats, camels, yaks, dzo, and horses.

In recent years, due to increased interest in Tibetan Buddhism, tourism has become an increasingly important sector, and is actively promoted by the authorities. Tourism brings in the most income from the sale of handicrafts include Tibetan hats, jewelry (silver and gold), wooden items, clothing, quilts, fabrics, Tibetan rugs and carpets.

The Potala Palace of Lhasa,Tibet
The Potala palace is located on the Lhasa, a great city of Tibet. It is named after the Mount Potalaka. The 5th Dalai Lama started it's construction and now the palace has about 1,000 rooms, 10,000 shrines and about 200,000 statues. This is also the palace of his holiness 14th Dalai Lama.

The Tibet is the holy place of Buddha. Though it's conservative mind cann't make themselves modern but no-doubt Tibet is one of the peaceful land of the world for their own conservation.

The Tree can KILL you

This dangerous tree is  topical to the Caribbean, Florida, Bahamas, Mexico and Central and South America. It is one type of mangroves can be found on in-shore beaches. Its roots can stabilize the sand, thus helping to prevent beach erosion. This is Manchineel tree.

Even you cann't believe that this tree contains strong toxins all-over it's body. Its milky white sap contains phorbol and other skin irritants, producing strong allergic dermatitis. Standing beneath the tree during rain will cause blistering of the skin from mere contact with this liquid. Even one drop of these toxic white sap can create rash.

The fruit is possibly fatal if eaten; however ingestion may produce severe gastroenteritis with bleeding, shock, bacterial superinfection, and the potential for airway compromise due to dropsy.

The fruit sweet at first, with a subsequent strange peppery feeling, gradually progress to a burning, tearing sensation of the throat.

Carib Indians used this tree’s white toxic sap to poison their arrows that their enemies injured dangerously. Even they would tie their prisoner to the trunk of the tree to assure a painful death in the tree.

buddha,ellora,cave
Ajanta is actually a group of about 29 rock-cut buddhist cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE. It is now the well-known gallery of Indian ancient art. There are several paintings and rock-cut sculptures based on Buddha,Buddhism and life. Specially Ajanta is famous for its expressive paintings that present emotion through gesture, pose and form. the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15A caves are built were made during the period 100 BCE to 100 CE. Among them 9, 10 are stupa or Chaitya Griha rest are Vihar. These caves are belong to Hinayana Buddhism. The cave 1-8, 11, 14-29 were made during the period 460 to 480 CE. Among them 19, 26, 29 are stupa or Chaitya Griha rest are Vihar and these caves are belong to Mahayana Buddhism.

If you go there, do not forget to see the No. 1 cave. This is one of the largest Vihar of Ajanta and full of paintings. The most famous Indian Art "Alavokitesvara Padmapani" was drawn on the wall of this caves. This cave is one of the highly preserved cave of Ajanta.

The cave 4 is the largest monastery of Ajanta.

The cave 6 is two divided monastery connected by a internal stairs. The two Vihar is well-painted. One of them the paintings based on "Miracle of Sravasti" and another is "Temptation of Mara".

The Ajanta Caves were built in a period when both the Buddha and the Hindu gods were worshipped in Indian culture together. According to so many scholars, not only the Ajanta Caves but other nearby cave temples were sponsored and built by Hindus. This is proved by script wherein the role as well as the Hindu heritage of the donor is proudly proclaimed.

That one could worship both the Buddha and the Hindu gods may well account for Varahadeva's participation here, just as it can explain why the emperor Harisena himself could sponsor the remarkable Cave 1, even though most scholars agree that he was certainly a Hindu, like earlier Vakataka kings.                                                                                                                                                                                            — Walter Spink, Ajanta: History and Development, Cave by Cave,
