The Tree can KILL you

This dangerous tree is  topical to the Caribbean, Florida, Bahamas, Mexico and Central and South America. It is one type of mangroves can be found on in-shore beaches. Its roots can stabilize the sand, thus helping to prevent beach erosion. This is Manchineel tree.

Even you cann't believe that this tree contains strong toxins all-over it's body. Its milky white sap contains phorbol and other skin irritants, producing strong allergic dermatitis. Standing beneath the tree during rain will cause blistering of the skin from mere contact with this liquid. Even one drop of these toxic white sap can create rash.

The fruit is possibly fatal if eaten; however ingestion may produce severe gastroenteritis with bleeding, shock, bacterial superinfection, and the potential for airway compromise due to dropsy.

The fruit sweet at first, with a subsequent strange peppery feeling, gradually progress to a burning, tearing sensation of the throat.

Carib Indians used this tree’s white toxic sap to poison their arrows that their enemies injured dangerously. Even they would tie their prisoner to the trunk of the tree to assure a painful death in the tree.
